So where did this £100m figure come from ?

as i've said, it was on social media before any of the media got hold of it

Koeman even confirmed it in a press conference when he became manager when asked

He was asked if it was true that he would have around 100m plus any money made from the sales of Stones and Lukaku

So based on that we should have had 150m

But in reality we have only spent money made from player sales (like most years)

just went through a transcript of his press conference and couldn't find anything of the sort.

I ask because

- no one at the club has ever mentioned it once
- no one at the club even suggested we would spend big this summer (as far as I'm aware)

It all seems to be built around presumptions, first i heard about it was on the forums and twitter and then the press picked up on it and from there it seems to have somehow turned into a fact... which has ultimately led to disappointment.

Some may suggest the figure was leaked to the press by the club to soften us up but I'm fairly sure the press only started reporting AFTER the figure was doing the rounds on social media etc.
dunno i thought we had 1.5 billion for the stadium and transfers - mosh said "I'll give Everton whatever I have"

The only relevant quote i can find from his first press conference is this: "If we realise we need better players or players in other positions, we will work about that. We have a budget"

It came from the press but they wouldn't have run something like that without some word from somewhere.

All told it was a pack of lies.

Surely the media don't write full length articles based solely on twitter rumours, without having any reliable source informing them from within the club.

well seemingly half of our fans and even an ex player are losing the plot because they think we were promised huge funds when the reality is there is literally zero evidence to suggest this was ever the case.

Totally agree. No evidence other than media etc that we would spend £100m.

Spending started once stones sold - fact

tv money is high this season. was the speculated £100 m made up largely of this or was it additional to. either way a negative net spend makes the money to spend situation a mute point. seems to have been part of a pr exercise to sell season tickets which has happened

And once again, if you've spent your money on a season ticket based soley on PR and media reports and in the hope of us signing a brand new shiny centre mid, you're doing it completely wrong.
