...some refer to it as a library, which I always thought was a little untrue. On talkshite, they tried a number of different combintations. I think it was colly who called the quietness, "like a county Cricket match" which I found was apt.

Obviously we know what the roar is like, but how would you describe the quiet phase at Goodison? oh, and top balcony possee, don't go there please!!!

Stan is very fortunate in the fat that he gets a good reception given what he did.

I'd say it was more like a bowling green, with the wiff of pipes in the air, and the odd shout of "fukc off neville" when he plays one thats a touch too long and it drops off the end, and of course everyone has got their eyes on 'the jack.'

Johnny H could bowl most people with a turnip I reckon.

NB Jesting warning on both our part.

some times I think of it as a lecture theatre as we all sit mesmerised by the appliance of science, or waiting for the experiment to go horribly wrong. Im bound to pick stan out in such a moment now though, as those are the moments I thrive on.

would that be Stan "swede beater" Collymore?

I'd say the silence is like that which you experience whilst in the undergrowth surrounding a car park at about 11pm, after having spaffed all down your kex at the sight of a 50 year old getting fingered by a stranger on the bonnet of a ford orion.

That kind of silence, stan.

he always says decent stuff about everton in all fairness. he is a much better pundit than i thought.

I've always said about the atmosphere at Goodison, that it is generally quiet. But we are the best in the land at getting on a refs back if he makes a bad decision and the best in the land at getting on players who make a bad challenge at one of ours.

And when we need to be loud, my god do our fans step up...eg. Fiorentina in 08, Man Utd, Chelsea this season

Old Highbury was described as the library.

Goodison is the graveyard I think.

No music after a goal is one of the best things with the atmosphere.

Do everton have a singing section? Have fans asked for one?

Are likeminded fans able to sit with each other so they are not embarassed to start a song......i.e:- lads who go to games together....supporters clubs.

Fan groups?

At celtic there are 4/5 groups who do displays.....carry on songs and create an atmosphere all spread through the ground. There cant be more than 2/3000 of them out of the 55,000 who attend home games so 70% of the time the song starters efforts will fall on deaf ears by those who are just at a game for a day out.....but when the whole place is in full swing! Oh my!! b)
