Sky feature on Neville right now

.... After we won the cup in 95 (great save from Scholes), he didn't stay to party with the players and the officials from the club. Was interviewed getting into a car to go back to Wales and said he'd rather be with his family and "when you spend all week with this lot like I do you'll take any opportunity to get away from them".....

And picked up Everton fans hitch-hiking back up the M1.

Modern footballers need to take the route of big nev, give them an appreciation for life and the meaning of money.

Being an 18 year old on £60k a week compared to nev playing 4 games at the weekend at 14 and getting a train to games and leaving work half day to play football part time

Legend

Loved the big man and still do

Yep, need to be more like Nev and not hand in transfer requests or make very public displays of unhappiness with the club whilst still playing for them....

Think I'm right in saying this. Heard a story that in his prime if the mid 80s Gordan Banks went to bellifield to watch southall train. His aim was to observe nev at close quarters and offer his advice. He couldn't offer him any advice as he had it all according to banks. The best goalkeeper in my life time bar none. That save at white hart lane from falcao in the last 5 minutes, is probably the best save I've ever seen, still don't know how he kept it out.

Hopefully there will be a way for us expats to have a look later (hint if anyone wants to suggest where it might be found).
Nev was simply different class. Nothing big time about him. Wasn't bothered about socialising with players but always had time for the fans as he could identify with them - something a lot of players these days lose sight of.

So many stories about him staying behind at training to help younger pros etc. After we won the cup in 95 (great save from Scholes), he didn't stay to party with the players and the officials from the club. Was interviewed getting into a car to go back to Wales and said he'd rather be with his family and "when you spend all week with this lot like I do you'll take any opportunity to get away from them".

He's a loon alright, but most of the best goalies were.

I tried to find it on Youtube for you but there seems to be no sign of it on there.

Sorry :(

Loved the story he told about HK telling a player to warm up. Noticing after few minutes that the player wasn't running up and down the touchline,
he asked him again to warm up. The player pointed out that he was wearing a suit as HK hadn't selected him for the bench.
Nev said that was typical Howard.
