I wonder if for some people Friends was the big sitcom of their youth (whereas Seinfeld would have gone over their heads at the time) and it has sentimental value. Friends was a decent, very popular sitcom but it wasn't classic. Humour is subjective so you can't judge people ... that said you'd have to be criminally insane to rather watch three seasons of Friends than the three of Arrested Development.

I think it is the sitcom I watched in my teens so it is the one i probably like the most

friends is somewhat of a classic though

this. he is massively not funny. anyway, the top 3 for me are Episodes. nathan barley and garth merenghis dark place

Seinfeld of the ones listed in the poll.

Though Peep Show, Friends and Frasier I'm also a big fan of.

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place, Party Down, Father Ted, Scrubs, Phoenix Nights and Curb Your Enthusiasm of those not on the poll.

Whats that guys name who was in garth marenghi and the boss in the I.T crowd ? He just has to talk and i piss myself.

"Sing you canary!"

omg, can't believe I forgot Dark Place. The guys called Matt Berry btw. Also Smoking Room is really good, and +1 for Arrested Development.

Hearing Matt Berrys normal voice is surreal. He did a few sweet ads as well. Possibly my favourite adverts ever.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the new sitcom on channel 5, it's called being liverpool, it's similar to The office, there's a deluded manager, dysfunctional staff, it's excellent.

Yes mate i really used to look forward to watching it. Always made me laugh. so bad it was good.

Voted Frasier, but Blackadder was a very close second. The episode with Dr. Johnson's dictionary is one of the funniest pieces of comedy ever written.

As for some of the options.... Seinfeld was curious from the point of view that it was never, ever remotely funny. Totally bereft of any humour. Peep Show was equally woeful. The Office had a few moments of epic cringe, but nothing in the laugh-out-loud category.

Obvious omissions from the list are Scrubs, Black Books and Father Ted. Agree 100% with those mentioning Dark Place too.

anyone mention the league of gentlemen? probably one of the best things theres ever been on the telly.
