The last continent", character called Rincewind, if ever you are tempted to another book, then Rincewind's adventure starts in the first two discworld series "colour of magic ", and "the light fantastic". they really are quite brilliant.

Two of the best books ever written, particularly the first one. The wit behind that writing is truly once in a generation.

Have read most of his books. Started off with The Light Fantastic and Mort, and have read nearly every Discworld book since, and several of his others (inc the first The Long Earth book recently), and am reading I Shall Wear Midnight currently. Will miss looking forward to getting his latest book for Xmas. R.I.P.

“Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?” Thank you, Terry Pratchett. Your name will always be spoken.

I remember reading this as a kid and laughing out loud because of the juxtaposition - the first book to ever make me laugh.

He drew his sword and, with a smooth overarm throw, completely failed to hit the troll.

A sad loss. Absolutely love the discworld series, so many outstanding characters, Sam Vimes and Vetinari amongst my favourites. Was really impressed with his collaborations with Stephen Baxter, but like @magicjuan, Good Omens is my favourite. Blissful anarchy from start to finish.

RIP Sir Terry and many thanks for the long hours of enjoyment you provided.

Was lucky to see and meet him when he came down under almost twenty years ago. His talk was brilliant, and he signed all my books.

And I brought along a banana daiquiri for him ... (alt.fan.pratchett purity points)

Sad loss of someone I really admired.

Have to appreciate the wit and humour he brought to his writing. My personal favourite author of all time.
His ability to create new worlds through the soft and subtle parody of our own was outstanding
