Poor effort. Bowie, I believe, turned one down. No rocker should accept this. Jagger excluded because you know he is taking the piss by being a knight of the realm.

In keeping with these days, anyone of celebrity from Merseyside suddenly finding themselves in the media opting to become Kopite, I'm thinking that when the Beatles began their rise to fame they would have professed to being Blues.
 
Being knighted is meaningless, has been for a while.

Nick Clegg a knight now? Why? What has he done to earn it? Ringo starr doesn't even affiliate himself with the country anymore and certainly doesn't contribute to it.

There are far more deserving people who aren't famous who should be given these honours.

towed the line, regardless of how it effects the public, it's what the establishment require
