Sir Landon Of Donovan

I have to say that the biggest difference between the Galaxy Donovan and the Everton Donovan is total involvement in a more focused role. Donovan seems to track back more to play defense while still making his offensive runs. It also makes a major difference when he surrounded by a full cohort of attacking players and not the primary focus of the teams attack. There have been many Galaxy games where Donovan was marked out of games because of limited attacking options. Donovan has always had a very good first touch and given enough space, he will kill teams with his pace. He is more often than not, the fastest player on the pitch and he has very good vision. He seemed to find Saha often tonight. If Saha can find Donovan more, that will be a lethal tandem. Donovan does tend to look to pass more often than shoot and this has been a frequent criticism in the past. All this being said, I think he is being used brilliantly by Everton and I see more enthusiasm and fire in his play than I have consistently seen with the Galaxy. I think he is now Everton's player to lose and clearly wants to stay. Hopefully, Donovan stays with Everton but I think the days of teams wondering whether he would be any good in the Prem league are now over.

Great post. Not necessarily buying his desire to be a full time Everton player despite the Facebook posts. A lot of people are seeing this through their own hopes and desires. We shall see.

But he has indeed proven to himself that he belongs at the highest level. How will that translate to the WC? Now that is a question I can't wait to see answered.

He looks like hes played in the prm for years. Really want us to sign him- brings a real balance to the side.

When he is good he is really good, even though he didn't score or didn't provide the assist, but i suppose you could count the PK he got from drawing a foul in the area, be a assist to Saha, just Saha couldn't score from it.

I could see he is more than just having pace, the fitter he gets the better he looks, we honestly need to sign him up, just treat Donovan as a key summer signing for next season and get him signed up permanently.

donavon took the corner for the kings first, didn't he?

Half a dozen games in english football and looks a top class player.
imagine if we had him next season. a must signing:D

Oh, yea I forgotten about that one, he has done alot this match, it was after Baines and Arteta fail to deliever good ball into the ball and Donovan took one from the right, where Saha score? So, that's potential two assist from Donovan.

Absouletly, we need to sign him up, as I say we need to to treat him as one of our key signing in the summer for next season.

I am not surprised that he could do this for someone. I am just happy he found it with such a wonderful club with awesome supporters.

it is extra cool to read the comments from my European friends on here as I am sure there were doubters about the yank so to hear the good comments is awesome!(y)b)

what do you reckon lads is it worth a shot in the dark?
lando must stay imo

if we make him feel wanted every time he pulls on the shirt then that could be a big factor in any decision he makes.

i'd imagine we will be in the same pos with him as milan where with beckham. he could say that he will be in better form for the world cup by playing in the prem though.

A German Evertonian I know told me he wasn't expecting much when he heard Donovan was joining us, but I believed he would deliver from the start and I'm glad to have been thus far proven right. I can only see him getting better and better throughout his sojourn at Goodison, and hopefully that will culminate in us buying him.

Speaking following Evertons 2-1 victory over Chelsea, manager David Moyes has cast doubt on Landon Donovans loan move becoming permanent.

Asked if Donovan would remain at Goodison, Moyes said: "I don't think so. We've said it would just be the loan. He has signed a new contract at the Galaxy so I don't think that would happen."

Moyes added: "That was Landon's best game for us, but I don't think we'll be able to keep him when his three-month loan expires unfortunately.

Thats why I ranted when we signed him - a press conference to say you signed a contract but going out on loan meant the chance of us signing him if he done well were very, very slim. Some told me it was for the best, so he could include a buy out clause so he could leave? - Doesn't sound that way.

the quality of the posts and the knowledge of LD shown by the americanos is awsome. the EPL has bit of a reputation as being hard to settle into `its only his first season` blah blah - if thats true, how good does this make LD. catamounts` post says it all and this is only the beginning . my 2 cents worth - WE AINT SEEN NOTHING YET. vive landon
