Sir Alex Ferguson. Seems to be in a bad way

...I went to watch a Lancashire League game at Bellefield many years ago. Giggs was an unknown youngster playing for United and Ferguson had made the Saturday morning journey to watch him. Every time Giggs got it, Ferguson was full of encouragement; “take him on, Son”, “enjoy yourself, have a run at him”. It was a great insight into his management and a stark contrast to what was coming from the Everton coaches.

"ryan, what are you doing? you're leaving your full back exposed, get tracking back son or i'll take you off".

..I think Giggs and Beckham were the blueprint for the modern day wide player in that they patrolled the whole length of their wings. Very hard work, but still worth any youngsters watching.

A bit off topic, but hey ho. I remember watching that United side live at OT. Beckham, in particular, never stopped moving. Up front, digging Neville out, always available.

Fergie said in one of his books that Beckham will never be found wanting in a football match.

..absolutely. Him and Giggs worked incredibly hard. I was a huge Beckham fan, he loved the game and he loved playing the game. Football mattered to him and that is a question I always ask about Everton players.

Balosie always has a smile on his face

Beckham summed up what footballers should be like. Grateful for the chance he got, always gave 100% and so proud to play for and captain England.

Beckham squeezed every last drop out of his footballing ability. Ruthlessly honed his most effective skills and reaped the rewards. I'd love to see this quality instilled and nurtured in our youth team players.
