Silas Marner by George Eliot.

This is a thread destined to pick up one reply at best.

Still.. has anybody read it? Thoughts about the story?

Very much so. It's a slow burner as most stuff tends to be that is 150 years old.

I was tempted to do a 'George Eliot or Jordan's ghost writer' thread but thankfully thought better of it.

Cracking novel. My favourite George Eliot is 'Mill on the Floss'. There was a film adaption of Silas Marner with Ben Kingsley in the title role and a young Patsy Kensit as Eppie. Twas pretty good.

I read it and watched that in school. Good stuff. (y)

I might downl..... i mean pick up the DVD. Ben Kingsley is a stellar actor.

Cheers for the heads up.
