Seems that any time one of us goes to the Shout Box we're on out own there - chico and mick excepted.

Any interest in those of us on similar time zones having a regularly scheduled time, on specific days, to meet up there if available?

So for example if we make it daily at 2 PM Eastern, then if you're on at that time be sure to check the shout box each time.

Your thoughts?

A better solution is to create a channel #grandoldteam on a free irc server (see http://www.mirc.co.uk/irc.html for FAQs etc). Or even better plugin an irc applet/php script instead of the shoutbox. irc is real time and you don't need to invite people or request invites etc, you just give a nickname and hit connect and your chatting.

irc isnt the most secure program in the world is it?

maybe relocating the shoutbox might be the solution.

deja vu all over again???

I think part of the problem with the Shoutbox is that you rarely see it.

For example, I move about the forums by clicking the Forums link in the light blue box at the top of the page. If you land there, there is no Shoutbox, although if you hit the Grand Old Team link, you land on exactly the same page but with a Shoutbox.

Whereas if you click the Forums in the higher dark blue navigation, it goes to the "forums + shoutbox" page and the Home link goes to the main page of GOT which I only see once in the blue moon.

Be easier site architecture if:
Home = Grand Old Team
Forums = Forums display with shoutbox

But then I'm not familiar with the intricacies of VBulletin (forums, ugh).

I started this thread because I assume that Danny has limited flexibility ob placement. In an ideal world, you could make it a floating toolbar - always visible. But in reality, it's probably going to be in a fixed position on a certain page, so while you're viewing and posting threads you won't see it. Hence my suugestion, which I'll now retract before the rest of you send a posse after Danny.

I had it above the forums, but many people complained and that [Poor language removed] ;) Danny moved it back down to the bottom.

Oh that and it was making the forum 'stutter' at the top. And people would use mouse wheels to scroll the forum (much like I do), except they would have the cursor over the shoutbox and end up scrolling that instead.
