Should standing areas be re-introduced?

Will do it mate, but just while I'm here- no. Hillsboro was a grim lesson learnt. Even with conditions accidents could still happen. Happened in a club recently with overcrowding in Northampton where 2 people died trying to get out because of a fire alarm. Exactly the same principle in a football stadium.

I do not think the lesson was learnt,as somone who was involved in safety for over 25 years the standing was a factor but to me the overiding factors where 1. the fencing. 2. no control. 3 to many people in that end. In any emergency situation a lot of people will self evacuate unless they cannot (fencing) others can be helped unless they are stopped ( control & fencing )
I could go on but if you have a different opinion you will get shouted down in my experience.

This is only really worth thinking about if it can be policed properly and it's safe. But although it might improve atmosphere and attendances due to pricing, my dad tells me that terracing was grim.

As a match-goer pre-hillsborough, just wondering what would people think if we had standing but without those awful fences keeping folk in?

Clubs with fans that can be trusted should be allowed to reintroduce selected standing areas, and said areas should be heavily monitored. Any club whos fans abuse the system should ban the fans responsible or have the standing licence removed.

Youd pay for a seat, then stand the whole game?

Weird.

Anyway, wasn't there some horrifying consequences to having people standing up all at the same time? Even with the best barriers known to man, you're still going to die when 500 people are crushing up against you

I think standing has had its day.

I used to watch Chesterfield at Saltergate (worst ground ever) and got trampled a couple of times when they actually scored. Not a pleasant experience.

But there were some good bits to it. Like first half behind the goal when they were shooting towards the home end, then half time everyone runs round the other side to be near the away fans.

Great days.
