Hi guys,

I'm from Southend-on-sea and love my football, especially the premier league and need a bit of help from the loyal supporters out there, forums are where the best fans are!

I go to university and am in my 3rd year and i'm doing my dissertation on the re-introduction of standing areas around the premier league and would really like some responses from the premier league's best fans and see what you think? It will only take about 3 or 4 mins and would help a great deal!

Thanks a lot it really is appreciated!

Will do it mate, but just while I'm here- no. Hillsboro was a grim lesson learnt. Even with conditions accidents could still happen. Happened in a club recently with overcrowding in Northampton where 2 people died trying to get out because of a fire alarm. Exactly the same principle in a football stadium.

This is only really worth thinking about if it can be policed properly and it's safe. But although it might improve atmosphere and attendances due to pricing, my dad tells me that terracing was grim.

Everton couldn't afford it. Safe standing doesn't increase attendances and costs an absolute fortune to install in comparison to seats.

Not going to happen, If people wanna stand up, they will anyway.

Done , btw .

It is a kind of romantic light over standing. It maybe dangerous, complex, expensive to build, etc. But I like it! Football should preferably be be seen standing on two feet. But it is nothing for the elderly, children, etc.
But possible people and society in general has changed so much that people not are asking for it anylonger? In ten years it's broad armchairs?

thanks for all the replies guys it really is appreciated! and 'bluejock', not all southend girls are filth! haha there are just a few who lets us down haha

thanks again guys!

Well I always thought that if you wanted to go to Goodison and stand up then you book the Lower Gladyws St. Not officially a standing area but evryone who sits there knows what to expect.

Done, and no i dont want them back. i have been on the terraces standing at sitting. there is no improvement in either and for the reasons i read above i believe it would be a step backwards.
