National teams are not allowed to use foreign players so why are they allowed to use foreign managers?

Surely getting a foreigner to manage your side is no different to getting a foreigner to score the goals for your team?

International football is supposed to be "our best" vs "your best"

You should not be able to buy success by using a foreign manager.

If you don't have any good managers then that's tough. If you don't have any good players you don't buy a load of foreign players do you?

Using another country's talent to improve your chances of success really defeats the whole point of international football.

Hasnt seemed to work for England either way. So I vote no manager at all. Just let the players sort it out.

But on balance, I agree.

Unless you are France

I think in our case it would help to get an English manager who really 'gets' us and The English game in general. Certainly think a passionate Englishman would help us, but unfortunately there aren't that many going who are good enough. If Mourinho wanted to manage us I'd jump at it in a heartbeat. So I vote no ban.

We're all foreigners somewhere.

There are probably plenty who are good enough and 'get England', but they're not the FA's choice and never will be.

There is a very timely sequel to Mike Bassett about to hit the silver screen.

That's the kind of passionate chap to manage England ;)

This would be a really fascinating debate if enough people actually cared about international football.

Ok, people who are right into their international togger.. go for it.

Thanks for your approval, I'm glad I got it first before making a post on the subject.

I think it should be the same situation as the players, ie manage your country only. Of course if you take up residency in a new country and call it your home that should be considered too.
