Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws is interested in signing Everton striker Victor Anichebe, BBC Radio Sheffield understands.

The 21-year-old Nigeria international is believed to be one of a number of targets on Laws's wanted list.

Anichebe's season was ended prematurely when he suffered a knee injury in February which required surgery.

The Owls are also planning more talks with the West Ham forward Freddie Sears when the player returns from holiday.

Laws claimed to be on the brink of signing the 19-year-old striker earlier this week.

At least £5m, he's a young up and coming English(ish) prospect, wring the money out of Wednesday

Who was/is it at wednesday Moyes was watching, Brunt or Beevers or something. Anyway, Victor is about 20 because his birth certificate was drafted in the uk, so could be the next Yakubu. (see what I did there)

Id like to see Big Vic and Jose Baxter go on loan next season (Baxter to a Championship club). They need match experience and also a lot of matches under their belt before we can truly work out their potential.

However are we in a position to loan players out for an entire season?

I'd rather Victor got a good run in our side to see if he's really capable. He's also done well in Europe in the past so I think he should be pushing to start a few of these games to show what he can do.

Depends on injuries and who we allow to loan out. For example our two young goalies have had fairly long stretches on loan this season, likewise with Jutkiewizs (sp?) and some other youngsters.

I don't think it's a good idea to lend out Anichebe at the beginning of the season since our only fit strikers at the beginning will be Saha, Vic and possibly Vaughan. We will need 3 strikers if we go for a 4-4-2, or even if we go for 3-5-1 when the matches come close to eachother.
