Moyes Eyes Cahill Return – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com - The Official Website of Everton Football Club

David Moyes can't wait to call on the services of Tim Cahill again.
The Aussie returned to full training last week and has been progressing well throughout the current international break.
Cahill isn't expected back in match action just yet, but Moyes knows when he does take to the field again, he will provide a major boost.
“Tim has started training again and we are glad to have him back with us,” added Moyes.
“We have missed him a great deal since he has been out. We have followed instructions from his surgeon and the early signs we have seen from Tim are good.
“He looks really sharp and fit and he’s obviously looked after himself during the time he was out.
“I don’t know when he’ll be available again but he’s coming along nicely just now. The one thing we won’t do, though, is take any risks with him.”
Moyes acknowledged that Cahill adds a new dimension to Everton's side when he is playing and in top form.
He weighed in with ten goals last season, providing a versatile option in both 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 formations.
“What he does for the team is really important,” continued Moyes.
“We have missed him since March and though we did okay without him towards the end of last season, of course we needed him.
“I’m sure there will be a mental barrier for him to overcome when he gets back because he has suffered the injury three times.
“But he’s had three-and-a-half months since the operation and he is looking better and better. Of course we are going to be careful with him but when he’s ready, we will be playing him and we can’t wait to get him back.”

In your dreams, City. :)

Btw, my father in law's a native of Stone - lives in Stafford now in his seventies. He was a first class referee in his younger days and a strong Stoke City fan - Bootham End I believe.

He watched Matthews and all the Stoke greats and reffed matches in sunday leagues all over the potteries. A top man and real fan of the beautiful game.

Glad to see fellow founder members Stoke back in the big time - have a great season but only after we've been to the Britannia. (y)

I did - on TV. I was ten and my dad couldn't get me a ticket - saddest day of my childhood. Went in 1968 and watched us lose to WBA.

My wife's father's name is Ray Sneyd - he was a good ref. Stopped about ten years ago, I think.

If he really is in full training then I would have assumed he would be in contention for a place on the bench at Stoke?

I heard on city (the devil spawn) that Sunday may be too soon. But they did confirm that he is in full training. Never know, maybe a 20-30 min cameo 2nd half would be the compromise.

Massively important to the team his tenacity has been missed key player and these extended spells out are proving it.
