It's cheating IMO. Deliberate attempt to put the opponent off. A lot of the women players are guilty of it and some men like Nadal are too. If you notice some of them do it so noticeably long after they've hit the ball. It's to give the opponent a false perception of how fast the ball is travelling. Both Williams sisters are terrible for it aswell and if you notice they'll turn up the volume at critical points in the match.

In this day an age of equal rights and women banging on about equal pay why in the hell do they still have their own sports. If they can't rise to the level of elite athletes then they shouldn't be earning ridiculous money just for being women.
