Shane Duffy again.

How come Brighton loaned him out? He was a regular for Brighton wasn't he and surely if they wanted to sell they would have got a decent wedge for him
Lost his place last season and has even more competition now, if you look at their 3 likely starting CBs (Webster, Dunk, White) they're all better on the ball than Duffy which suits Potter's possession style. In the longer term they probably will sell players like White so it could be that he gets another chance there in the future.

A big no for me. He has always been ok for Ireland as we tended to always have a wall of midfielders in front of him that made it very tough for teams to play through. He really only had to head it awat for the most part.

He qas badly exposd twice in Ireland's last two matches where the manager is playing a more expensive game without loading the midfield in front of him.

He is also a decidedly average passer.

One look at him playing for Ireland is enough to realise he's not good enough to be a centre half at a club hoping to be in the top half of the league, I'm not sure he's ever had the best stamina either.

Obviously I disagree including with fellow Irish on this. I can respect others' views and move on.

I just believe Shane could have really been a commanding presence in the squad even if not first choice always.

He is always a danger to opposition from set pieces.

As for Ireland, no one graced themselves with as any glory in that last game. Shane was by no means the worst on a poor evening.

Not being the worst player in the worst Ireland team I've ever seen isn't great. Even as cover going after lads who can't get a game at Brighton has to be a no.

Well done to him for carving out a career in prem, but the cold embrace of the dreadful spl will suit him at this stage
