Annoyed we haven't made it but small margins: any one of Newcastle away, LFC away, Fulham away, Palace away.... would have put us in a good position for next week.

Don't buy this idea that teams shouldn't want 7th. Now Wolves will be getting more European coverage than Everton. That is ridiculous and I can't understand why anyone would want them in it ahead of us just because you have to play some part-timers in July and August.

But perspective is important. We've finally found what looks like a decent formula on the pitch for the first time in a few years, and we look to have a strategy off the pitch for the first time since Moyes. So I'm optimistic for next season.

Fair comment, but of course Wolves were the first team in the UK to become known in Europe with games against Honved and Red Star in the 1950s, aT Molyneux under lights. FRom the Everton stand point, if Silva uses the close season as well as he used the 17 day break, things will be fine.

It was in our hands and in true Everton fashion we bottled it. I stand by the idea that Europe wouldn’t have been good for us however

Instead of us keeping Jags and others because of additional matches we can have a clean sweep and use our funds for a streamlined squad.

I'm glad we don't have the burden of Europe ruining our chances of a top 6 next season, we should be taking baby steps, add to the squad and remove the last of the dead weight over summer go for top 6 and a good cup run then we should hopefully be attractive enough for 20/21 season to bring the last few remaining players we need to actually have a decent depth squad along with the quality to manage competing in Europe and domestically.

Europe is nice but we've seen enough times that it's not a blessing when squad depth & quality isn't up to scratch

Great games them Steve and also versus Moscow Dynamo, all on TV in glorious black and white, second half only though, TV only dealt out football in small doses then, the highlight of the year being the FA cup final, it only gets a small % of viewers now.

Starting the season ludicrously early in an overblown, overhyped competition is not what we need at this time. I fully suspect Wolves to suffer, just like we did and Burnley did.

Also found myself not wanting to have to want the rs to beat wolves, in the last game - just so we could ruin next season. That would be unconscionable.

Better off leaving it for a push for top 4 and the European runners up league next season.

We weren't good enough. That's the fact.

We need to continue to play like we have since late February. Add a quality striker. Add 3 or 4 others. Get a full pre season and get working hard on our style in training.

I'm optimistic we can be better next year on all fronts. Cups need to be targeted.

Next season, I would be happy with the following.

A top 6 finish, with at least one WIN against the RS.

Going all out to win the FA or fizzy drink cup's.

Some decent football along the way.

How have Wolves been jammy ? Their record against the top 6 is amazing, and they weren't even spawny wins.

They'll improve in the summer and we'll be back to challenging them for best of the rest next season.

I agree with you that they been good, but they also have been lucky, I can atleast 3 game changing horrible decisions that went their way.

I think they will be stripped within 2 seasons

Bit disappointed that we won't be in Europe, now it can't happen. But we can go into the new season, prepared with new signings and, deadwood sold. Wolves/Watford won't can start the season in July and play Thursday and Sunday.
