it would have been nice, but considering the improvement made during the over two weeks break earlier this year, a proper pre-season could prove to be significant

Great to get 7th in theory, the reality is that were a fair distance away from being able to compete on 2 fronts.

Instead of us keeping Jags and others because of additional matches we can have a clean sweep and use our funds for a streamlined squad.

Fine, it’s gone, all the people saying we don’t want it will be happy. I can’t see being in it as a bad thing however they way I see it now is that the players have a summer off, get rid of the deadwood and try and get as much for them as we can, the board have more time to get players in, full pre season together and get ready for next season.

Annoyed we haven't made it but small margins: any one of Newcastle away, LFC away, Fulham away, Palace away.... would have put us in a good position for next week.

Don't buy this idea that teams shouldn't want 7th. Now Wolves will be getting more European coverage than Everton. That is ridiculous and I can't understand why anyone would want them in it ahead of us just because you have to play some part-timers in July and August.

But perspective is important. We've finally found what looks like a decent formula on the pitch for the first time in a few years, and we look to have a strategy off the pitch for the first time since Moyes. So I'm optimistic for next season.

The 7th place trophy found its deserved heroes...hope we won’t be associated with this anymore...
