I mean staying in general not making sense. Not moving to us exclusively. Perfectly reasonable of untied to look at our start and say no way, but I imagine he’d be going somewhere...

Think it's £10m but he's only got a year left on his contract (but United can trigger one more year).

3 million pounds in wages, plus the lost transfer fee, is a lot for them to spend against the following hypothetical:

- We finish above them with Romero
- We finish behind them without
- The specific order of finish determines the title, a CL/EL placement or relegation

Yes, we play them next in the cup. Still a lot to spend to try to get an advantage in the lesser cup competition.

It smacks of Woodward/Ole being politically vulnerable and spending the club's money inefficiently for political cover.
