Player Valuation: £50m
AJ off in 13 minutes last week.
cahill off in 8 minutes this week.

why? why risk them? why chance odd substitutions? why lose places on the bench?

aj has been carrying injury for 12 months now, cahill almost the same.

is arteta due numerous surgeries around christmas 2008?

this insanity needs to stop.

We risk them because despite saying every season we are short of numbers we dont increase them we have improved the quality but not the quantity ,OK we got a good deal on Faddy and Stubbs might have wanted the move but its costing us in the short term as players are carrying injuries or attempting to come back too soon

players carrying injuries or coming back too soon do not pick themselves.
Never thought that they did. But I know when my school mate played for us the picked him when he was less the 100% fit which was common in the 60s and will still be going on today

look at that, look at that very hard.

if you dont want to change it, i will mention a few things tomorrow.

Ok Suites I admit it has not come out right maybe the keyboard is injured.:lol:What I mean is when the team are short of replacements the management will try to persuade players to turn out half fit.Arteta being one of the current squad that has done that this season and his form is suffering because of it.Yes we were dire today but only for the linesman We would have won and most people would have been content with it.I personally hate hoof ball and was sad to see us revert to it today but feel we should still get behind the team.

it aint suites dude, phonetically that sounds 'sweets', and that aint me.

my point is, why jeopardise future games this and next season, and lets say it, careers for the sake of a game or two now?

i agree with suits. As soon as the Hammers made the first sub, the game seemed to turn in the favour. Sears or whatever his name was, he really lifted them. Yet we had a bench full of defenders and Manny (who im not even going to get started on except to say have a nice trip to Newcastle in the summer :D)

Id rather see young fit players given a go then seeing injured players doing there best, appreciate the effort but we need to win every game i reckon to get to fourth place.

first appologise for the cock up on your name I really should have got it right and I agree sweet is not my opinion of you either .but in my defence I have just took my medication and it knocks me a bit for about a hour so it will soon wear off.I agree with what your saying But clubs only look for today as results are the be all. its the nature of the beast if AJ had scored a winner at Fulham and was out for a few games Moyes would have properly accepted that.I think with Peanuts out all the responsibility fell on to Arteta and he is just not fit

martyn got played through an injury that sadly finished him.

there is a possibility, arteta is suffering multiple injuries, in my opinion, to his lower back, to his upper right leg, and his left or right ankle.

once upon a time, the fans and board condemned smith for jeapordising michael balls carrer with knee shots because 'the team/club desperately needed him on the pitch'.

i dont want those days again, if it has to be as extreme, write this season off and give all of our players the benefit of a proper rest and a chance at overcoming the plethora of injuries they have been subjected to.

lets not make things worse and really REALLY pay for it a few months down the line.

they step out there and fight and get hit for us, the least we owe them is the good grace of being something like prepared to defend themselves and do the cause justice.

Got to admit that we havent got to many options but i agree with suitsblue. The worst thing you can do with a player is put them out when they are carrying a knock and then risk something more serious and yet more time out. Hope that Cahill and AJ will be fit for next week

Hmmm

I've been thinking about this and this is my wacky theory.

Moyes knows Cahill's only half fit, with a possibility that he'll be fully fit for the derby, so he "plays" him for 10 minutes and brings him off. That way the aussie manager can see he's injured and won't insist on picking him this week, giving Cahill the rest he needs to tear Liverpool a new one next week.

Ditto for Pienaar... got a flu bug (!) so can't play against west ham or for south africa... or cunningly rested for the derby?

any takers?

I don't think any manager would play someone for just 10 minutes to prove something to an international manager. If he's injured, just leave him out of the squad as injured and he won't play the international anyway.

Not saying it's beyond the realms of possibility, but I think you're looking for conspiracies where none exist. Otherwise why play a half fit Johnson last week? he didn't have an international last week.
