Second Half Performance

Think you're all being a little unfair.

Since twenty minutes in against Arsenal, we've looked a different side. I believe they gave their all tonight and I for one enjoyed it. Yes, the result was disappointing but the commitment is exponentially better than just a couple of games ago.

And we mustn't forget that Liverpool, whether we like it or not, are currently a better side than us, but we still managed to keep them at bay for the lion's share of the game.

Under the circumstances, we were just unlucky not to take something away from tonight's game.

For once, I'm not complaining.

You enjoyed that, what the actual.....

Everything went out the window when Barry came on for McCarthy, awful choice of replacement. Cleverley gets stick but least he has legs and would have chased, I could hear Barry's legs creaking from the Gwladys. Was always exactly the wrong sort of game to play him in, a team good with flicks and setting a fast tempo were always going to run rings around any midfield with him in it.

We've been here with most of those players before and I've ran out of things to call them. Koeman must take huge blame for that as well though, his substitutions were appallingly bad even if forced upon him by injuries. Why that kid came on to play on the right wing with half an hour left instead of Mirallas is utterly baffling, the entire right side was lost as an outlet because some kid who's just jumped up from League 1 is never getting any success against a seasoned pro like Milner. It felt like 6 against 2 every time they go the ball, our two being Gueye and the utter oaf that is Barkley. Completely overran and their goal was completely merited, as sickening as it is to take.

A mixture of mental block, lack of bottle and rubbish tactics from the man on the sidelines means we've just suffered another excruciating defeat at the hands of that lot that will hurt for a long time. Nothing will change until most of this squad is binned off and our manager, no matter who he is, stops persisting with favourites who are all wrong for the game situation they're being put into. I have hope that will all one day change but Christ it's hard work keeping at it.

Bottlers mate. Blame the players not the manager here. No fight or desire and Lukaku completely isolated.

Barry too old and slow for a game of that intensity. Barkley shocking.

The manager brought Barry on though, surely he has seen Liverpool play before. Why didn't he put young Davis on the bench.

It's alright saying sell those 2 but we paid £25 million for Bolassie, what would we spend the money on?

Was pointing more to the players not being fit part. Koeman has worked on it but we were shot after having to work for 40 minutes - a result of being so passive and not pressing for tge last few months. Hopefully the work put in over the last 2 games helps our fitness

I totally agree with everything you have said.

45 minutes of running and we are shot

That is what I thought.

And that being the case, it has to be down to the manager surely.

What kind of a training regime is in place if the players are shattered after half an hour.....it wasn't even the whole first half

Not sure mate. Why don't you take your fitness skills down to FF, seems as though you can do a better job.
