Interesting to take a straw poll from the forum to see who is actually a season ticket holder who voted for or against Kirkby.

I know this can be abused and probably will, but interesting none the less.

It's interesting this debate. I believe I'm right in saying that in the last set of financial results at Man Utd they earnt more money from overseas fans than they did from domestic fans (note: that's the whole of Britain rather than just match going regulars). If money truely talks in the running of a club, who has more say?

Well who really does have an opinion?

Do the club send out a ballot form to those who have bought a keyring from JJB in London?

Or what about Dylan all the way over in the States. Is there anyway that the club can find out from his TV signal that he watched an Everton game live and has watched many, so he deserves to vote? But then he is not as likely to grace the terraces as say Danny is. So is it fair for the club to get the opinion over someone who although may pay more money in the long term, is not going to really get over here that often.

(Just using you guys as examples)

So the whole ballot thing was flawed from the start, and I think its just a PR stunt by the club to show that they listen to the fans.

Dylan will be all over that like a rash, well done sir.

The ballot forms were sent out to season ticket holders so how surely that meets your criteria? What you trying to get at? Pineapple on Pizza: Si or No?

The ballot was a PR exercise. A gesture to show that the board do care what the fans think.

Like I said in the adjoining thread, if you consider that arguably more money flows into the coffers from overseas fans these days, and that these overseas fans probably value seeing a successful team over any territorial squabblings, surely a successful team should be the aim of the board?

The reason they polled the season ticket holders is that they knew full well that those season ticket holders are likely to be the vocal ones over any ground move. Simple politics really, you try and appease the gobby ones, even if they're not the most important to the long term success of the business.

After all, any new ground will be catering for the prawn sandwich brigade, that's one of the main reasons for going, to get the corporate pound. Were they given a vote? How would 'traditional fans' react if they were? I can certainly hazard a guess :)

I'm saying the system was flawed.

People here are having a go at me for making a [Poor language removed] observation. That local people in general are more likely to care more than those who are not local in general. We have the odd one like Dylan who does care, and that I respect and perhaps he should have been consulted in some way. But the club don't seem to care about those who are not season ticket holders, or those who are by in large not local.

So why isn't the club getting the flack that I am?

They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't. It's an emotive issue and there will always be those that find fault with them, whichever choice they make.

Sometimes in life you simply have to accept that things won't go your way, and it isn't because the powers that be are setting out to piss you off, it's simply that they believe the best way is different to yours.

Fans do make it hard though, you have to accept that.

You yourself have said the process is flawed because they didn't ask enough people. How many people would have had to be asked before acceptance can be granted?

The club made a gesture that I can't recall any other club making. That the vote went the opposite way to your own beliefs is no real reason to critisize the club for making it.

I'm criticising the club for not not having a decent backup plan. Which means they knew the vote would go their way, or they hoped and prayed that it would. Either way that's not good.
