I saw a stat somewhere saying it would be 47 points over a 38 game season if Dyche managed the whole campaign. That's very, very comfortable by any standard.

Not sure personally of the usefulness of this type of analysis but I do think if he had been appointed in December, we would very likely not have had the need for such a tense run-in.

Things were completely on the floor by the time Lampard left, as bad as I've ever known it personally. On the pitch, and in the aftermath of headlock gate.

He deserves a chance of starting a season with a clean slate and an opportunity to put his stamp on the squad with some new signings. He had the worst of standing starts and has had nothing but firefighting. Let him try to do more of a whole club evaluation over the summer and try to bring what he thinks we need.

His points per game even in the spell he’s had would be enough to keep us up most seasons if extrapolated over 38 games.

Now add in that he’s missed most of the easier fixtures, now give him a fit Calvert Lewin, now give him some additional new signings of his own making, a pre season to work on the team stress feee, a full season to play fixtures without the immediate pressure of relegation.

You could easily make a case for Dyche being 50 points plus with just a couple of signings even with this group of players.

Staying in the league tops everything else.

Potter - I've never got the fuss. I think he was just a symptom of how Brighton are ran. They sacked Hughton who finished 17th on 36 points, and he barely improved them. 41 points first season, 41 second season and then to be fair, an impressive 51 points. Hardly worth the hype though? Have Brighton missed him?

Joined in October or something when in Championship with Burnley in 14th. Got them promoted that season/immediately. They went right back down as favourites to do so. He got them promoted again and stayed up against the odds for a very long time and even had a season in Europe despite not having a pot to piss in. Technically didn't get them relegated when they went down as he was sacked with 8 games to go. There's a reason he's considered a legend there and there is a pub named after him.

Technically he got them 4 wins all season. One (his last) was against us, when we knew we were losing for fun, so it was an absolute freebie.

He absolutely got them relegated with that - the next bloke came in and got 3 wins on the bounce or something.

He achieved a lot but your incessant defence of anything he does or has done is just weird lol

Limited manager with so, so many flaws, but a great motivator. Fantastic for when we're in the same place due to his own doing this time next year.

I mean then your opinion is equally as nonsensical as we can say the exact same nonsense about Lampard lol He defo had no play at all in this potential relegation here, right? Or Rafael last year?

We're not rebuilding but if you want to watch 30+ year olds steaming their way to a relegation fight again next year - sure, go ahead, it'll be amazingly fun. Because it's what and who we will buy - old past its, no resale value, doomsday prepping for a relegation.
