We had 1.34 against Brighton and they had 2.87, do you know what score it was? 5-1 to Everton. You’re looking at the last game in isolation, we had a lower XG v Newcastle 0.69 and palace 1.1.

Great example mate, that 1 time it happened out of ~100 is definitely the norm.We had 1.34 against Brighton and they had 2.87, do you know what score it was? 5-1 to Everton.

It was an improvement yesIf Dyche delivers a mid table finish your expectations are therefore met then? Where they met last season having earned 48 points?
It is a difference, and has to be considered. The difference between us & Bournemouth is money spent. Since 2023 our net spend is +£96.25mill. Their's is -£137.18mill. Big factor in the equation.
If we get mid table then yes still want see him make the team play better football like the end of last season. Most of the bournemouth game showed they have it in themIf Dyche delivers a mid table finish your expectations are therefore met then? Where they met last season having earned 48 points?
Pssst, Carlo lost to Southampton, Leeds, Burnley and Sheff United. He also drew with Burnley and Leicester. It's not a new thing for Everton to lose these games. We literally say "Everton that" about everything. My expectation is that the team that finished 1 point from top half last season, and have improved the squad (even slightly) should go to games against newly promoted sides and be able to and be expected to win.
Thanks mate, I needed a bit of a boost today. A bit of praise goes a long way. Appreciate it.Great example mate, that 1 time it happened out of ~100 is definitely the norm.
We have definitely strengthened the squad in attack. One could argue that Ndiaye has raised that bar for the squad by himself - what a breath of fresh air he is.
In midfield, we lost Onana, the merits of whom we've debated over countless pages of GOT threads. Regardless how you feel about him, he was at worst an average midfield body with upside. We replaced him with the guy from Villa we had zero expectations for and Mangala. So let's call that, at best, a wash. We still have Doucoure plying his trade out there.
However, it's in defence we are no better than last season - just look at how bad we've been in defence without JB in there. Add to that our geriatric fullbacks, and we're not far from serious trouble.
Expectations? I think they should be to finish around where we did last season, without the points deductions. Our ceiling with this squad might be 5 points north of that, but a lot would need to go our way.
Realistically, this is another season we just need to slog through before we get into our new stadium and get the ownership situation sorted. Dyche has, on the whole, steered us through some choppy waters to get to this place.
You're welcome mate, any time xThanks mate, I needed a bit of a boost today. A bit of praise goes a long way. Appreciate it.
I agree but last season early on dyche himself was mentioning XG on every presser and so was his fan boys, funny this season not soWe had 1.34 against Brighton and they had 2.87, do you know what score it was? 5-1 to Everton.

Dyche is a ginger nerd.I agree but last season early on dyche himself was mentioning XG on every presser and so was his fan boys, funny this season not so
Much as we’ve lost the XG most games
It was an improvement yes
And now I want further improvement with a better squad and more of his own agreed transfers in.
Basically I want no more relegation chatter. People happy to go along with that belittling if our club just sound like Benitez to me, who came in criticising everything about the club while bringing it backwards on the pitch.
We're simply better than that and I want Dyche to not talk us down either in order to make himself look better. He's not at Burnley anymore and it would be good if he acted like it.
We have improved our squad as well as most clubs like Forest, Fulham or Bournemouth.I think the strengthening the squad thing is a bit of a stretch personally. N'diaye would probably be classed as a strengthening purely based off what he's done so far rather than being a clear improvement on paper, but overall I think it's difficult to argue that this years squad is obviously better than last years. If it is, it's due to good management/and or work by the DoF rather than being a simple case of us 'strengthening' in a conventional sense. That's leaving aside the entire premise of what you're saying being a bit simplistic in its own right.
