People aren’t just bits of ink on a balance sheet to be swept away because it’s inconvenient.
maybe he was going anyway, but otherwise you have to stick by your own. Or who else will stick with you?

We're in financial ruin, heading straight to the Championship and you want to give a 1 year extension to a player who is nearly 35 and had a nasty injury which looks like could be a career ending one due to his age.

No he doesn’t.
But what kind of club are we if we can’t even look after our own?
What do we need to do to look after him? When he was out with his broken leg we had long enough to find his long term replacement but instead brought in a short term fix hoping Seamus would be back just as good as he had been, which he never was.
