Anyone going down to Stanley Park for this ?

Stanley Park will becomes a festival ground tomorrow as it holds its own three-day event to coincide with the arrival of the Little Girl Giant. The Stanley Park Festival is the first of its kind in north Liverpool and runs from 4pm tomorrow to 8pm on Sunday alongside appearances in the area of the Little Girl Giant, her 50ft uncle and her pet dog as part of the free Sea Odyssey street theatre spectacle. It includes a food and drink festival showcasing the best offerings from around the city including crepes, a hog roast, a BBQ and sweet treats among others, live music, a family activity zone and children’s play area and a chance to find out more about community groups in north Liverpool.

Meanwhile on Sunday live football will be shown on a big screen in conjunction with the Football Quarter. The Manchester United v Everton match will be live from 12.30pm and later in the day there will be the build-up for the Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion game.Festival organiser Gemma McGowan said today: “As this is the first time an event of this type and scale has been organised in the north of the city it’s set to be a really exciting event for the whole community.“From the arrival of the Sea Odyssey giants to the televised match in the Football Quarter all ages will find something of interest at the event.“We hope this is the start of many events at the park.â€Family activities will include rides, bungee trampolines, water zorbs and a climbing wall while music and entertainment will be provided by live local bands and by Radio Merseyside and Juice FM.And there is still time to get involved with festival organisers continuing to look for local acts – singers, dancers and performers – to showcase their talent during the three days.Anyone interested in the opportunity should contact organisers direct on 0151 263 0363 or by emailing info@theisla.co.uk.Liverpool Mutual Homes, Liverpool Community College, Everton in the Community, Liverpool FC Community, Positive Futures North Liverpool and Age Concern will all have a presence at the event.Sea Odyssey itself starts at 9.30am tomorrow in Stanley Park when the 30ft Little Girl Giant will wake from her slumber and take to the streets of north Liverpool with her 20ft dog.Her diver uncle will also visit the area during the weekend’s events inspired by the Titanic centenary.
