Player Valuation: £35m
Thought this was kind of interesting, apparently we've scored the 8th most goals in the league thus far this season (its not great i know, but it isn't quite terrible either), though we don't have any players on the top 20 premier league scorers list.

the way i see it, there are two ways to look at it. one would be to say that our squad is lacking that standout player to really take charge of our season and inspire. also, we could look at this as a triumph of the well-rounded nature of our squad. instead of managers telling the defenders to mark one or two main threats, they're spread thin with several equal threats. this means we lose the benefit of opening up space when a certain player is marked or double-teamed, but it also makes it difficult for opposing managers to focus their defence strategy.

cahill, arteta and yakubu have 4 goals each, with lescott osman and saha coming in at 3 goals each.

so do you think this indicates a positive about our team, or something we'll be looking to address over the next month by bringing in that standout player?

Bit of both. I think if we're to really challenge then we need that individual that will get up towards 20 goals a season. Yak was that man last year but we've obviously had problems with our strikers this season so having the ability to get goals from elsewhere has been a real bonus.

Lets go through the looking glass for a moment...

In theory it only takes 38 goals in a season to win the league. But that means conceding zero.

Lets say we won all our home games 1-0, and drew 0-0 in every away game.

19 x 3 = 57
19 x 1 = 19
total = 76 points.

That total has a good shout for a CL placing. remember, marcus bent got something like just 8 goals when we finished fourth, what did cahill finish with 12 or so???

It's good to see we have alot of goalscorers in the side and players capable of chipping in. Cahill, Fellaini, Osman, Arteta, Anichebe, Lescott etc are all capable of getting 5-12 goals a season

I'm hoping Saha can provide the goals, he's certainly capable of scoring 15-20 goals a season, he's proved that. It is a long shot though considering his injury problems.

I think that barring any player sales that when Yakubu returns, things will really be looking good.

We've done well since losing him but losing him really was a massive blow.

I think that the Yak and Saha returning to a team that are scoring and playing strong will help them both. They are both 'confidence' players and will feel less pressure on them if we are not counting on just them to score. It's a crazy idea, it may just work.

Massive loss to the team, it really proves how much team spirit and togetherness we have within the squad that we are able to overcome such a huge hurdle.

[Poor language removed] love you Everton.
