Also the point that someone said the only good reasons to be a teacher are the holidays;

what about the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a difference in a child's life every single day?

Seems a bit strange to have a go at teachers because they have "cushy" jobs and get "a lot" of time off, when you could just become one yourself.

Some bitter people here.

I wasn't taking the piss out of an entire profession nor did I make any assumptions, but carry on anyway.......

They have to over emphasize it, as they know everyone knows the truth - 13 weeks holiday & home in time for Countdown most days, it must be ****ing draining like.....2 best things about being a teacher? July & August :)

Are you one of those people who forgets what they've said after saying it ?

I'd imagine the schools in areas with little or no snow removal equipment have a tough decision. Once you get all the children to school and it starts snowing, if that snow can't be removed from the roads, wtf are they going to do?

Setup a camp fire and sing kumbayare? Seriously, here folks, you'd think we're facing a foot of snow rather than a few mm.

I was stuck in Atlanta for 3 days once because they got 2-3 inches of snow. No snow removal equipment.

I live in a place where a foot of snow means a 30 minute delay in your commute, so I have little compassion. But if you can't remove it, it becomes ice and very dangerous. Not worth sending my kid to one day of school.

Aye, true. I suppose people have their backs up when it seems a very easy decision to shut schools down when lots of other employers are open. *shrug*

Most adults are uncomfotable with thier child facing a risk that wouldn't bother them in the slightest. And there is an increased risk of an accident whether we like it or not. That's why schools are shut.

This. One day of school isn't worth it.
