We've been linked with him in the Daily Star Sunday and the Sunday Mirror.

Personally think it's a load of pap

Over the hill player

Yes, he's past it. Scholes in exchange for the promise of Rodwell??? That would be an insane deal.

I'd take him, absolutely no question. He's certainly past his peak but I think he has a lot to offer at this level & if we could bring him in on a free to bulk up the squad I'd sign him without hesitation

I think he'd be a good signing. But i can't see it happening - Moyes is building a young team, Scholes is 34 and a one club man. I see him staying and doing coaching badges at united.

I think he'd be a fantastic short term signing. Would save us going out and spending the majority of our budget on a Moutinho or a Defour.

Outside of Arteta our central midfielders are pretty ordinary to be honest, Scholes is different class to most of them. Even at his age.

Rodwell, Cahill and Fellaini are miles better.

Rodwell could be excellent but he's still young and inexperienced. He'll probably be used sparingly next season.

As for Cahill and Fellaini. Phil Neville is a better and more reliable midfielder than both the players mentioned.

And none of the players mentioned can deputise or even compete with Arteta. Paul Scholes can, in terms of quality and style.
