Not too worried in the bigger scheme of things. What we have learned though is that we do not have the resources to challenge on multiple fronts sadly. The fringe players just havn't grabbed the opportunity. Will be difficult to balance the league with europa and this is new territory for Martinez. He used these last 2 friendlies as a test for league/ euro games... failed miserably.

..I appreciate we need a good start but its more about the season than Leicester. We've brought a few in but you can't play lads who are not up to pace. I think the opening game will be Naismith up front and a back-up RB. I wonder how much the starting X1 will differ from the one that finishes the season. It will be a real battle next week.

No joke but if that happens, we'll loose and probably be pointless after the first 3 games.

However it won't happen, there's no way Mirallas and Lukaku won't start.

Why's that?
They are not meaningless because they show (a) we are unfit and lacking sharpness ad (b) we have not improved at all in areas we knew we were short of last season. Most disappointingly we are still unable to perform when we're being pressed. And that goes not just for the back 4 but (Besic apart) the rest of the team. Embarassingly bad at times.

It's not the results that are the most concerning part of this preseason it's the general lack of ability. Apart from short periods in theses games, when have we looked like actually threatening to be the 5th best team in England?. We can all make excuses about the fitness, but the rotation personnel just haven't looked up to scratch.

I've loved Hibbo for years watching Everton, but this paradoxical Hibbo I see now who can actually put a decent cross in but cannot defend to save his life is concerning after that contract he was given. Alcaraz just looks like he doesn't listen to anybody on the pitch and goes swanning off wherever he wants position-wise.

great post. would read again.

Ok going to be honest I am a little worried after watching another awful pre season game

We have 3 hard games at the start of the season and if we play anywhere near that level we could easily find ourselves with zero points

Struggling to see how the same group of players can turn so sloppy after 2 months off
