Sandhills station

This calamity is going to bring down a few careers.

A world class stadium that gets planning permission 5 years ago and is brought to delivery by the developers left exposed to transportation chaos by the local state. That's big news. Not local big news - national and global big news.

This stadium is already getting massive exposure in the media...they'd just love to come back again and do follow up stories about how it's an isolated, out of the way palace that people cant get to without bringing half the city to a standstill and endangering lives.

I wouldn't be in Rotheram's or any of the the city council leadership group's shoes for a big gold clock.

How Rotheram didn't at least come up with an idea of numerous dedicated Soccer Buses, on the dock road to the north & south of the stadium serving the north/south of the city is beyond me.

Seems like that would have been the absolute minimum thought into transport. Not a holding pen at a station too small to cope.

Rotherham needs to resign, it’s going to get much worse before it gets better, and it won’t get better with him involved.

Him, Liam Robinson, and others are going to pay the price for all of this. Maybe not in the next 6 months, but certainly before long.

Rotherham shouldn't have survived the Headbolt Lane fiasco, nor the new trains, and he's not going to do well with Everton fans being on his case 24/7. God help him if anyone actually gets hurt at the new station.

I suspect he will, at some point, use his mate Burnham as a bit of a human shield, but even he'll see through it.

For the test event last week Arriva said they would run a 919 from Lime St. , 929 from Liverpool One and 939 from Bootle Strand . I assume this will carry on for all games in the future .

Wouldn't have been that difficult to put a two way tram style service in along the dock road.
Where would you run it from? Where would the Trams park up overnight? The easy part is putting in the straight lengths of tram tracks, but its the stations that are the problem as they take up more room. And the cost of the project. Will local folks be happy with millions being spent on a tram system to any area that is not fully developed, while there seems to be a lot of problems on the existing Merseyrail network? Maybe the crowd leading the dockside development would pay for a good chunk of the cost as it would improve the access to the area they`re looking to develop.

They've spent years burying their heads, lacking accountability all patting themselves on the back and now the chickens have come to roost, worryingly it's at the expense of Evertonian's safety.

In what way is anyone`s life in danger getting out to the ground?

The night of the test event was the bus service like? I think that the plan they had to cope with match day traffic was a few shuttle bus services from town and Bootle. The big problem will be those travelling by car and not having handy parking. All very well having a new train station or tram system to get folks from the stadium, but anyone needing to drive to games won`t be helped by either.

I wouldn’t wanna be in anyone at LCC shoes in the new few weeks.

What was the headbolt lane fiasco? (Don’t live in the area anymore so don’t know the issues). I parked there and got the train to kirkdale

when I came to the match a few weeks ago and it was fab. When travelling 4 hours in the car, it made it really easy for parking and getting to the game. Was surprised how empty the car park was and that more weren’t using it for that reason.

Take your pick:

Station was way late in building
Opened and it wasn't ready anyway
Naturally, over budget
There is little to no lighting in dark areas around the exits
Promised 6 weeks of train delays, went on for over 6 months
Trains are still breaking down regularly and the line is disrupted daily

A lot of Blues park at Maghull North station which is about 1/2 mile from the M58 Jct. 1

Is there a link in here to the full segment on the radio yesterday? The clips that Rotherham have put up seem only to be his turn to speak and it’s like reading from a script. I’d love to see him actually challenged on the nonsense he is coming out with and ideally someone asking him why none of this has been done in the 6 or so years.

I challenged him on it on twitter and he blocked me.

It was a case of Tomorrow Never Knows for Rotheram.

I'll bet he hoped that Everton had slipped into the Championship and all attention from fans would have been on that and the furore would have been all in-house among Evertonians leaving him to get on with allowing an 'evolutionary' process (basically muddle along and allow fans to sort a pattern of movement out) to take care of the impending transportation mess.

But we didn't go down and all that attention is right on his office and he's now 💩ing bricks and pointing the finger of blame elsewhere.

The feller's a chancer...he has been since he was a young man in the building game. But I reckon he's run out of squares on the chess board with this stunt.
