Sandhills station

Any real solutions are probably 5 years away - if they arrive at all, but there definitely needs to be a sticking plaster in the meantime.

Tbh I think the fans fell in love with the Kings Dock idea and a waterfront stadium. Bramley Moore was never ideal without a transport infrastructure overhaul.
Lots of people saw this all coming, yet here we are 6 months away from it being fully operational and all we have is a bit of tarmac and some metal railings.

First improvement would be to remove the waiting rooms on the platform at Sandhills. At the cost of comfort for people using the station at other times, they take up too much space that is a premium

Then they could divide the platform with fencing, run that right up to the banister on the stairs accessing the platform. This effectively makes two, albeit narrow platforms that you can queue separately for.

Have marshalls/turnstiles at the bottom that limit the amount of people on the platform to avoid overcrowding

Run 8 carriage trains, plus they could hold 4 double trains on the third track south of the station, and again at the depot just to the north. That means they can very quickly get people on the move at the end of the match.

I've looked, the new trains have a capacity of 475 standing, but they would fit more at a squeeze. That's easy a thousand per double train.

All this is achievable in 6 months

Longer term there has to be another station built further south

If not more. Baltic Station (St James) has been on the drawing board for well over a decade (2012), and serious funding was allocated in 2019 for it.

It won't be finished until 2027 or 2028, so it'll have taken between fifteen and nine years, depending on how you look at it. A new station at Pall Mall?

A station at Utting Avenue for the RS? You're looking at 2035-2040 at the earliest.

Illiterate numbskull.

Not really, Liverpool City Council was under (a Tory) government intervention for approximately three years, from March 2021 to June 2024. The intervention began in March 2021 following a government inspection that identified significant governance issues within the council, AKA corruption. They couldn’t be trusted to spend a tenner in the shop.

It not surprising this has gone down the list of priorities.

They do and they don't

I've been on those new trains plenty and they've had to ask people to get off - when nowhere near full - because of technical issues that won't allow it to move. Seriously.

Start of the season, I got the train in from Maghull (shockingly, the Kirkby line was down so had to switch) and we spent 10 mins sat at Aintree trying to get people stood in the right places so the train was balanced and could move.

You're joking...

I've heard that they are having problems with power in the cold, but this is new levels

Removing shelters is a retrograde step. This station caters for all sorts of people outside of matchdays.
Sticking a fence down the middle also adds to the danger and creates inflexibility.
The station really needs 2 extra platforms (1 minimum) to separate north/south traffic.

Realistically, a good shuttle bus service to and from town and the ability to park in private car parks who set themselves up for the purpose is the best solution. Of course the stadium having it's own designated train station would be great, as would Sandhills being adapted to accommodate more people comfortably, but neither of those things are even remote possibilities in the short to medium term and that's been clear for some time. Sandhills is only a major issue really if it's the only practical way to get away - if there are easily accessible shuttle buses to get people into town and a decent number of people are still able to drive then the pressure on Sandhills is massively reduced.

"We're committed to making travel to and from Bramley Moore as safe and efficient as can be."

Since Monday night? The work at the ground has been going on for the last two years, penny only dropping now that 50 odd thousand people will be heading that direction regularly when it opened?
He's too busy bouncing on his bed in his full replica kit reliving Istanbul with wank buddha and fanta scruff.
