Samuel Galindo

Nobody at Everton would admit that we'd signed Seamus Coleman for weeks last year. Sometimes clubs are reluctant to announce youth signings, even on their on their websites. It's strange.

The bolivian press is not confirming the transfer to Arsenal either. The local paper in Santa Cruz has strong ties to bolivian football powers-that-be and they would have already published something.
I shall report back as soon as I hear something here.

We need to get used to transfer disappointments.
Untill we improve, there isn't the incentive to attract top talent, so it's almost a catch 22 scenario.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed we have enough bodies to avoid the drop, and start again next summer with hopefully a full squad.
Anything else should be considered a huge bonus.

Well mates, the local papers are now confirming Galindo's signing to Arsenal. Their sources say that Arsene Wenger himself oversaw Galindo's two-day training and said he "was marveled by the kid's left foot" after only the first day of practice.
They go on to say that they will try for a work permit based on the "Unique Talent" clause (I am translating here so it may not be the same term in english), or place him with a spanish league team until he can cap for the Bolivian national team. I suppose this changes his ability to work in the UK.

I think it is safe so say that many people, including me, were hoping he would end up with Everton instead.

BBC Sport - Football - Arsenal capture Bolivian teenager Samuel Galindo

Arsenal have signed teenage Bolivian midfielder Samuel Galindo from Real America for an undisclosed fee.

Manager Arsene Wenger intends to send the 17-year-old out on loan - as he once did with Mexican Carlos Vela - when the Bolivian arrives at Arsenal.

Wenger said: "Galindo has good technique. He's intelligent, 6ft 2in tall, left-footed with good stamina.

"He is a central midfielder who can give good balls. He has good vision too which we like here."

Galindo was thought to have been close to a move to Everton in December but opted for the Gunners following a trial.

"It's true that he was at Everton but he was offered to come to me on trial," said Wenger. "I said yes, I liked what I saw and I signed him."

So near, yet so far.
I don't see the point in a player signing for a club only to go out on loan.
If he's not ready, then he's not ready.
