True...but Allardyce was in the stands & must of had a big influence on the result....
We were in trouble of that there is no doubt...
Fact is do Everton sack a manager for finishing in the top ten...?
I've defended him repeatedly from those who don't seem capable of having a balanced view of things and make out he's been awful from day one. But on this comment, it's more to do with how he gets it if he does.
Will it be through profiting from the rest of the teams in the league stuttering, where we continue to play negative football, get hammered in the Derby and against City, barely get any points away but manage to beat sides like Brighton and Southampton at Goodison?
Because even if he finishes top 10 in the above scenario, that isn't good enough for this club. When he first came in, whilst the football wasn't amazing, he was getting us results and he ground out our first away win since January against Newcastle, and made us tough to beat against sides like the RS and Chelsea.
Since then, he's undone all that with cautious negative tactics which have lead us to pathetic defeats away to lesser sides like Bournemouth and Watford, and humiliations against Arsenal and Spurs, which is what was happening effectively under Koeman and Unsworth. He had a chance to sort out the left back situation in January even if it was a short term solution but he's persisted with Martina which continues to imbalance our side. And he refuses to play his £27m signing up front when we have struggled for goals.
So for me, I will acknowledge the role he played in steering us to safety within the first month with sensible tactics, but will gladly see him removed after the West Ham game after the way he's managed us since.
For me, the only way i'd personally be happy to even consider him staying on is if we get 20 points from the final 30, at least put up a fight in the Derby where we actually try and score, and we take 10 points from 15 in our final 5 easy away fixtures. It won't happen so will happily see him go.
