Some people just couldn't give credit where it's due with him.
Or maybe some people seen through the fat chancer from the off, his past record screamed mediocre. Imagine how smug he is feeling (more so than usual) after we basically turned him down and then went cap in hand grovelling to him, he has played us big time, mind you not that hard with the knobs we have in charge.

Spot on, and very similar to how I feel about him. I will give him credit for the initial run of games though because that effectively got us out of trouble no matter what some on here like to say. Some people just couldn't give credit where it's due with him.

But from the West Brom away game, he has proven the doubters to be correct. He isn't good enough for our club beyond this season and his attitude recently has annoyed me. He showed some promising signs early on, and has got us to beat the poorer sides at home but that's about it.

If winning four games was "getting us out of trouble" with well over half a season to go, I'd suggest we were never in that much trouble in the first place.

Huddersfield, palace, newcastle, leicester, swansea. Even the utter mug Unsy managed two home wins.

Very interesting that over the past 24 hrs, there`s been a variety of media outlets starting to question Allardyce`s hoofball, whether he`s lost the fans ,whether he`ll get the bullet in the Summer and the fact that Walsh has been a disaster.

This looks to me, like the club giving the journos the green light to brief against him.

If the press start speculating about possible replacements, I`d expect him gone sooner rather than later.

The devil is in the detail as @Connor has pointed out.

I don't get this line of thinking. I understand why people think it is something that the club would do, they're horrible for trying to control the media, but it is one incredibly poor way to run an organization.

Someone said the same thing about Walsh when he started to get some negative attention from the press.

If we aren't happy with them we should just be giving them the boot or an honest discussion about how they're failing to meet expectations and leave it behind closed doors.

If we are in fact airing our dirty laundry out in the press then I can't imagine many people wanting to jump at the opportunity to work for us if they become aware that rather being treated honestly we'll instead call up Joyce and Hunter on the sly to get a few digs in.

Who would you have got instead?

That was on the day of the West Ham game so their mind was already made up before we beat West Ham 4-0. Unsworth was given the opportunity to prove himself but unfortunately failed to win over the players and they lacked respect for him which contributed to this run of results:

Chelsea 2 - 1 Everton
Leicester 2 - 0 Everton
Lyon 3 - 0 Everton
Everton 3 - 2 Watford
Crystal Palace 2 - 2 Everton
Everton 1 - 5 Atalanta
Southampton 4 - 1 Everton

5 defeats in 7.

So who should we have brought in? Silva wasn't realistic and Watford wouldn't let him go. It later transpired that Tuchel for example wasn't interested.

...Leaving Big Sam as a credible candidate. He doesn't appear to have done enough to shake off the criticisms of him, and he will hopefully be removed at the end of the season, but I don't see who else was out there that would have come in the circumstances.

I'll 'repent' if he relegates us like Koeman or Unsworth looked likely to do when Moshiri made the decision on both of them - after the 5-2 against Arsenal with us in 18th (Koeman), and us 17th under Unsworth on the afternoon of the West Ham game.

If you look back there was no one else up for the job!!!!
