Surely Benitez will have been briefed on the need to bring down the wages and age of the squad? Just cleared a load of ageing deadwood in likes of Walcott and Bolaise past their best, authorising this transfer is just repeating the same old crap, lessons are never learnt with this club.

A free or low fee transfer with a short contract for a PL experienced striker is very much not doing the same thing. It is exactly the way to put low risk experience into the team.

Wages yes probably age of squad is of no interest to benitez same as Carlo they are here for the now not 3 or 4 years is it shortsighted most certainly

If the package is not too costly, then an experienced player that the manager will actually use makes sense as cover.

I have no idea what level Rondon is performing at, that is the big question.
