SA views on Moyes, Pienaar and ANC delay

As moyes said he was legally allowed to play against chelski..the national side can only come in and demand players on the 14th day. We had 15, they winned like little bitches to fifa..and got him a day earlier..how a national team can have presidence over a club who actually pays his wages defies belief. And its not as if 1 day would have made any difference..SA dont play until the 23rd Jan do they?

Out of curiosity why cant they move the ANC to the end of the season? I dont really know anything about the ANC, and what its purpose is for. Is it for world cup qualification or one of those pointless cup competitions like they have in south america?

I believe the issue was that we thought the 14 days meant the first South Africa match, whereas South Africa (and FIFA) said the 14 days meant the first match of the tournament. So by the letter of the law, the SAFA were right, not us.

I think it's the African equivalent of the European Championships.

Bit harsh to say it's pointless but it is a bit irritating for the european clubs, bang in the middle of their seasons.

Still, should be a good tournament.

Ghana clear favourites, no value though really at 7/2.

We have to go with Nigeria don't we? 11/2 not too shabby odds either. Might have a tickle.

Egypt at 11/1 nice outsider too.

ANC VBookie to appear shortly methinks.

The relationships between club and coutry are only going to get worse with the more and more pressure of the dometic leagues. Somethings needs to be changed to allow for more compromise. Not that I have any great suggestions mind.

Thats a very interesting article and I didnt know about that, south africa have been very cheeky in asking for us to get punished for doing not much wrong, I hope Pienaar eventually does what the article suggests and tell them where to go for that kind of treatment.

As for once every 4 years, thats a good call.

Thanks for the info :)
As for being harsh I had no idea what it was for, but i guess really its harsh having this competition every 2 years, and having it when domestic teams need their players for the final run into the season.

I was unfairly harsh on Piennar against man ure and I am sorry for that, seems this poor kid cant go anywhere without being treated badly..doesnt help when i insulted him against man ure though :( I like Piennar and I think he is class, was treated badly against his former club and treated badly by south africa regardless they called him up.

I think i should retract what i said saying he will never be signed by moyes after his display against mu. But I think moyes is being a bit unfair on him too, he needs to be signed before someone else comes and gets him ..summer might be too far away if someone comes in for him this month with a good money offer.

I agree with parts of the article- it is important that African football is allowed to develop although it won't get far until the corruption is sorted.
However, I think South Africa were harsh in not letting Pienaar play in the semi- it's not like we weren't letting him go at all and the experience would have been good for him.
I hope Pienaar doesn't leave international football as that would be a shame for his career.

Seems corruption is everywhere these days in football. I for one wouldnt like to see him loose his international career over club and country..but its time FIFA changed the start of the competition to the end of the domestic season. Its extremely childish of SA to not let piennar play that last match for us before he left...yet in the same breath Nigeria allow both yobo and yaks to play 0.o Everytime SA is mentioned as a sporting nation something always seems to come up bad for them regarding football...shame they cant see the sense thats employed by the rugby team :)
But on the other hand I think maybe it would be better for Piennar to get out of that situation and let him get on with his domestic football, if all he has to look forward to is favoritism amongst the plays and the corruption that exists there.

Changed it to the end of who's domestic season? Ours?
Im pretty sure that FIFA are not going to start changing things to suit the English Premiership's needs because the bottom line is that football does not revolve around England.

No I am not just ourrs, but doesnt most domestic leagues around europe finish a couple weeks after ours or before i can never remember?

I'm not sure on this but i think the reason why its held in January is because obviously Africa is bloody hot. Very bloody hot in the middle of summmer i'd guess so they hold it in Jan when the conditions are way more suitable.

I'm sure we would all moan if it was held in summer and players got injured due to poor conditions etc etc.
