Historically, Everton was THE team that the Irish supported...way back to the days of Peter Farrell, Tommy Eglington, and Jimmy O'neil, and the late Don Donovan, plus Mick Meagan, and many more. We still have a massive folowing in Northern Ireland and the Republic, and on top of the fact that he's a lad with potential, it does no harm to corner the market in young Irish players if they're good uns. A suucessful team with a few of Irelands best on the team sheet will always add a few thousand to the gate, and give Liverpool Airport some extra business.
 

The new Reserve League is a dumb idea when you have the Irish National Team as your farm system.
