Veteran Welsh winger Ryan Giggs has signed a one-year contract extension at Manchester United.
It means the 37-year-old will take his time at Old Trafford into a remarkable 21st year, having made his club debut as a substitute on 2 March, 1991.

And having already played 24 times for United this season, Giggs says he still has much to contribute to the team.
"It is great to know I'm contributing to the team's success. I feel I've still got a lot to offer," he said.
"All I've ever wanted to do is play for United and I've been lucky enough to do that for 20 years.
"This is an exciting time to be involved with so many good young players coming through."

Giggs has past 850 appearances for the club and recently played his 600th Premier League game.

"You run out of words to describe Ryan Giggs," said Sir Alex Ferguson. "He is a marvellous player and a wonderful man.
"To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level in such a physically demanding position at his age requires a special person.
"He is still turning in man-of-the-match performances and his experience is so vital for the younger players in the squad."

The man is my favourite ever non-Evertonian footballer. Truely superb, should be classed in my opinion as one of the greatest ever!

37 years old!!

wowzer.

You're right though mate. Proper legend is Giggs.

Great to see someone play for one club their whole career. No doubt some clubs probably tried to prise him away, especially in his prime.

I thought he was finished last season, looked decidedly off the pace and didn't seem to have the appetite. This season he's somehow managed to get going again, I can't believe he's still as quick as he is.

I'd have him at Everton now

Great player Giggs, probably my favourite player for a long time when he burst on to the scene. I still have his soccer skills video somewhere.

I like how he came down on Rooney a few months ago, when he claimed he was leaving etc.....Giggs is the polar opposite of Rooney in that respect. What a pro

According to Wiki, he has notched up 862 games and 158 goals in his club career to date. Quite remarkable. I'd like to say under-rated as he seldom appears in many best in the world lists and has never featured in the Ballon D'or places, yet he won the Sports Personality last year so he won't get that from me.

They sure got some value out of that youth team though. Between Giggs, Scholes, the Nevilles, Butt and Beckham they had 3,296 appearances and 436 goals.

I thought he looked a bit out of it last season, but as Brownie said, he's really stepped it up this season. Amazingly so. I see no reason as to why he can't last another few seasons.

Amazing player, him and Scholes have really drawn back the years this season, that midfield of Beckham-Keane-Scholes-Giggs should be applauded for moons.

So glad he's signed on for another year, he's an incredible person to have in the league. Him and Scholes are still brilliant for their age and playing at one club for their entire careers is just awesome. At least we got Hibbert and Osman :)

I bet his one regret in his career is that he chose to play for wales, he would have had 100 caps plus for england down the left of midfield.

It is pretty extraordinary how he's kept going for so long.

It is really plus he still shows flashes.

There's few of his like in the history of football. You've got to say.

I've met giggysy, anyone remember Ryan giggs soccer skills? I was on that!

Probably one (although im sure thats unfair on him) of the reasons he is still playing is because he doesnt have 100 england caps. All those free summers has done him the world of good
