Years ago, Strava (the free version) was great which is why I got it. The free version is pretty bad these days, I wouldn't bother getting it if I was to just start. Runna has just been bought by Strava so I guess they will be getting similar soon. I get the odd month where I get an upgrade and I don't really get the point of all the stats, seems a bit overload for me but people loves stats these days
If you have the Garmain one with the watch, that one is pretty good for stats. I've never used to training help on any of them. I probably would for a bit for a marathon but the half marathon training things seemed a bit OTT for me, so I didn't bother and I run them fine with no injuries
People get obsessed with stats and spend the whole run looking at their watch, which just defeats the purpose of running ( imo )
I can tell how fast I’m running, give or take by my breathing and by how far I’ve run, by the pain in my quads
