Does anyone seem to know why on earth there is always roadworks on Runcorn bridge. It's like the workmen live there on a permanent basis

i asked this question when working in runcorn a few years ago to a local and the answer i got was this :
the bridge was not designed for long term heavey use nor the redicously high volume of extra large trucks it now has to cope with it also requies painting every 3/5 years (i think that what he said) due to sea air an bird ****3
