Read an interview with Moyes in the Daily Mail today. Talking about the summer and next season. Although he talked of bringing players in, he did say some will be leaving this summer but of course no names given.

Per the Echo looks like Fernandes will cost too much and is unlikley to remain at GP. A point here is that there has been confusion over the asking price if we were to sign him. It is not £12 mill but 12 mill euros which is equivalent to £8 mill. Still a lot of money though.

I'd pay £8m for Fernandes in a flash. He's a top quality player and his value will only increase over time. After watching him and Arteta pull the strings second half against Pompey, it just got me thinking that a midfield with them two and Cahill over the next few years would be awesome. We'll have to wait and see though, there's bound to be other clubs after him

Rather Manny than Barton. Barton for me could be a disaster in the dressing room.

With you RJ, Manny for 8 million beats Barton for 5.5 (or even less). Personally I'd love to see a starting midlfield of Cars, Cahill, Arteta and Fernandes - no natural wide man but seems to work. And I'd also like to see us sign Flamini as the replacement for the aging Cars (when he needs replacing).

Talking of midfield replacements, what do people think of Scharner? He can play midfield or defence and if I remember rightly he stood up to the big man (and he's one of them that always seemed to do well against us).

But would he do as well for us as agin us Attro. Like what Welton and Canada say about a possible midfield, experience mixed with youth and skill mixed with clogger. Also if and when needed to back up we have Da Silva and Osman.

Could shape up to a pretty decent side.

He will not tolerate being a squad-player, and he won't come cheap, and he doesn't have the right attitude for the squad. May I remind you of Lee Carsleys interview after beating the [Poor language removed] back in our run to fourth, where he cited the team spirit as being crucial.

Spot on Dylan, at the moment it strikes me that the club has a happy dressing room and I fear that some one like Barton would destroy that. Our players would be looking over their shoulder to make sure Barton was not sneaking up to land them one. It is also clear that Barton does not take kindly to criticism and I doubt that Moyes would be able to control him.

On another point was his brother not involved in that murder of a young black lad, so can you imagine the jibes we would get from the RS.

Moyes please steer clear of this lout.

That sort of sums it up for me, like I stated in another thread if Dunc was still around no problem. You basically need someone who could give him a right old beating if he stepped out of line. Maybe Stubbs could do the honor.

Have to say we have no room for barton, we need someone left sided and pacey, however if we can't land manny... might change my mind.

Don't forget lads, we are going to need a decent SQUAD for next season and not just a great team.
