about elstone btw.

im not sure about anyone else but i think it's refreshing just seeing a new face .

he freshens things up a bit just by being 'not wyness or kenwright or moyes or ross'.

we obviously have as much chance of finding the loch ness monster or a yeti.

You know that's not a bad idea, we could certainly do with the extra height and physical presence in the middlt of the park, perhaps one for the Carsley role

Good to see that he's not a Jabba the Hut - alike too

No matter who we sign, they wont play in the first few games, maybe a place on the bench but no way will Moyes throw anyone straight in.

to be pedantic, i wouldnt class pienaar as [Poor language removed]. and for tuppence over £2 mill, thats just good business. or as its known in those circles 'a moyes buy'.

every club on the continent is looking to juice prem clubs. (thats right, i said 'juice' - no sniggering at the back!) we havnt been able to rock up and compete with the likes of spurs for years - they paid silly money for... bent, modric and now zenit want £24mill for 27 year old arshavin.

consider our place, things are so tight at everton that having released/sold
mcfadden
cars
stubbs
silva

and discontinued loans
gravesen
fernandes
gardner

we have saved An amount by not having to cover these players wages. having not added players during the summer means this saving has continued.

I dont like the fact that the club is run on a shoestring, I also know that pressure and time will stretch the meagre finances and the patience of the man expected to work miracles - we arent in a position to do a ljungberg and pay off VDM - its bullshit like that with bilic and fairies like nyarko and letting rangers off the m.ball money and not getting the full materazzi money that sees us in this precarious position.

mismanagement - not just of the players bought and sold, but of the policies at boardroom level. and its not just us, villa are operating by frugal means - they have made a few signings - if you look at them and their squad it appears to me to be a game of russian roulette... bouma injured means shorey only LB, young signed for RB where they played CB mellberg all last season, sidwell in to bolster CM but with the way coker picks up cards they'll alternate weekly anyway. when we finished fourth we did amazingly well with avoiding injuries - we got players playing above themselves and did spectacularly well.
What i remember about that summer was Radzinski, bitching about lack of ambition, saying "with the greatest of respect to tim (cahill) and marcus (bent) that the signings were not that of an ambitious club" how quickly evertonians can forget, how fractious the support can be.

what monies moyes has had has been spread thinly, the pellucidness of our current situation - that being of our continued rise OR to plateau (or worse) was always the looming cloud on the horizon.

what do we expect? would you take 'consolidation' or is it 'champions league qualification or bust'?

has there ever been a summer in prem history where we have not made signingS?

at what point last season did we sign our top scorer?

could uefa grant special dispensation to players at the olympics to be transfered outside of the specified window?

choose between..

i) kirkby this summer and an extra £10.5 mill for moyes
ii) staying at goodison and having much less transfer cash to splash

Johnson is a decent player with good potential but he's nowhere near as good as people make out nor is he our best option. I watched him against Celtic lately and to be honest I couldn't see it, he's a decent box to box midfielder with alot of work needed. He's still a very raw player.

I'd rather we went for Moutinho or Fernandes, Johnson shouldn't be infront of them.

Is putting daddies sauce on a meat and potato pie from Greggs socially acceptable?

Putting Daddies sauce on anything is like putting Phil Neville in midfield, it'll do the job but it always leaves you feeling like it could have been better.

Totally agree mate, so if we can bring
Mountinho,
Mbia/Topal or Johnson
Milito or Smith

and one or two other loans in before the 31st, that'll do for me

remember Yak came in late and like someone else mentioned Pienaar didn't even start a game until the 8th game and look at the impact both players had on our season.

Then again, if we bring no-one in or very little and get the tired old excuses then Kenwright, Woods etc should be chased out of Goodison.

Yup, it's strange if all other clubs could tie players to them in the tough transfermarket while we couldn't.

depends on options doesnt it, we didnt get much from baines last season. pienaar missed great swathes of the season as well - initially and then due to the ANC malarkey.

we do have the bodies to cover a starting eleven without the need to throw players into positions they havnt played before...

howard
neville
yobo
lescott
baines
arteta
jagielka
osman
cahill
pienaar
yakubu

thats not a bad starting eleven, granted jags in the DM position doesnt inspire universes of confidence, but its a high % of what managed 5th for us last season.

I dont think the majority of fans are concerned with our 1st 11, we know the boys can play and i think the only problem we would have is, is who fills Carlseys role.

But thru the season we are bound to have injuries, suspensions and loss of form, we need options and yea we got the young lads, but its not fair to expect a lot from them and i hope they all exceed the low standards we should set them.

We will need 18 players for every game and when the UEFA, Carling, FA cup and league is in full swing we could be playing @ least 2 games every week.

I have concerns with a number of our players, i consider them to be injury prone. They might be unlucky, but i cant see the following players going right thru w/o picking up an injury. Arteta, Cahill, Baines, Vaughan. Now i hope they prove me wrong, but the fact remains if they dont, we cant afford to lose these 4 players, so we will need back-up.

Think Mbia is definately Everton bound, reading his recent comments. Hope we'll get Moutinho aswell and I'm still feeling positive about it, as he made very clear he wants to join Everton. Signing Milito and Smith will (more than) compensate for losing AJ and possible Anichebe. Hoping we still sign Fernandes, but I think if that's going to happen it will be on the 31st of August. Valencia want to sell, but (according to internet rumours) Everton seem to prefer a loan move. So, if Fernandes hasn't found a new club at the end of the month, I hope Valencia will let him go on loan, to get him of their wage bill. Here's hoping!
