Well, of course it does, Gareth. When you get smart and decide that you will use subs - some of whom are practically boys - to take penalties and they miss, well, yes, people might fairly surmise that your decision was a little clownish.
Basically, he seems to think his decision to do that was right - which can only mean the players were at fault.
Essentially, he gambled, had a flutter, lost and still wants us to think he was right to do so. No, Gareth. You lost. You were wrong. And it sounds to me that you haven't learned that lesson...

I know England have been awful, but Slovakia are comfortably the worst team left in the tournament. Expecting a straightforward 2-0 win today despite Southgate being Southgate.

That's a very low bar. Her explanation as to why Georgia deserved a penalty against Portugal was baffling. I don't think she really understands the difference between explaining what the rules are and making a judgement as to whether they achieve a desirable result for the game generally.
