Reckon he may mean the area we not looking for is bringing in as ageing striker who can come off the bench, hopefully looking for a young striker, but one who could still get in the 1st team squad.

We don't need a RB. We have 3. Maybe not to the standard of everyone's approval but none the less we have 3.

Depending on how affective Naismith and mirallas can operate up top it could be argued along with Vic vellios and jelavic we ain't desperate for another squad striker unless something really good presented itself.

We all know the situation at LB but there options of Distin Neville Garbutt bidwell.

CM seems the most likely to me. A position that if u get right and bring the right guy in can make a big difference. I've said all summer and behond holtby would be perfect as well as young versatile and affordable. If that happened and finished off our summer dealings I'd be extremely happy and optimistic for this coming season.

I'm sure there will be at least 1 more yet!!

Looking at the playing positions of the squad,(excluding `keepers) and i agree there might be some square pegs in round holes here, were would you strengthen?

RB... Hibbert, Neville,Coleman,Heitinga, Jagielka.

LB.... Baines, Neville,Distan,Garbutt, Hibbert,Coleman.
CB... Heitinga,Jags,Distan,Duffy,Hibbert,Neville

Midfield, mix and match any 4 or 5.
Gibson,Fellaini,Pienaar,Osman,Neville,Coleman,Heitinga,Jags,Barclay,Kneessmith, Victor,Mirallas, Gueye, Junior

Striker/forward Jelavic,Vellios,Mirallas,Knees,Victor,McAleny, Fellaini, Gueye

Reading that we have "numbers" cover in all areas we just need more quality, which will cost £££££ unfortunately.

Gibson is the only midfielder we have who's both defensively minded and not an actual defender. Another player of that type on loan would be grand.

Round is wrong. He's only the Assistant Manager. The Twitter ITKs were certain we'd approached Owen and the deal was being finalised so it must be true.

Its an amazing example of how a story can run and run and then even gather its own pace with absolutely zero credence to it, I've been saying it for months but I'm pretty sure we've never even made even a simple enquiry over the player. There has Never been anything to it

You're WAY past square pegs in round holes with some of these mate.

On a very basic level, a player can only play in one position at a time, and many of your depth selections are starters in their own right. You've got Hibbert listed as cover in every position along the back 4, and Neville in every position bar striker. That's not depth, that's a small group of players that you view as incredibly versatile. And in some cases more so than they actually are - do you really view Coleman as an option at LB, or Jags/Heitinga as CM?

I think Artetafan is spot on about midfield as well. Fellaini aside, there's no-one in the squad who can cover Gibson with any real effectiveness.

You have Neville listed on there four times. Hibbert 3. Heitinga 3. I could go on. It's nice to have versatile players, but if there are injuries, they can't cover two positions at once.

We need a central midfielder in the Gibson mould,we need a left back(unless the manager feels Garbutt is ready and won't be sent out on loan) and we possibly need a striker as cover for Jelavic(Anichebe should fill this role, but we all know he can't be relied on for fitness or form)

I would like to us bring in a young centrehalf as I feel that Heitinga will not be at the club long term,Distin is well into the veteran stage of his career and Duffy needs a season in the championship as pre-season has shown he is not ready yet to play premiership every week.He makes too many basic mistakes to play at the highest level yet,a season in the championship would really make a difference to him.

Bring back Straq!

I think we need another defensive midfielder (Neville is not the answer). Not too sure on Holtby, I think we need a power house in midfield, someone like Dembele (obviously not at £10m+)

You have a short memory mate, When Jags first arrived he played CM, he spent a lot of his career with Sheff Utd in CM,When Johny H came on against Villa way back 4 days ago where did he play!!!.............CM in front of the back 4! And finally go and check the team who played Benfica away and tell me who played left back?

As i said in my original post square pegs ect, but in nearly all cases(apart from the newer guys) Moyes has played them in the position mentioned, Hibbo CB, Neville in most places, i could go on and on, you are confusing Moyes thoughts on Positions to yours and mine.

No, i wouldn`t play certain players in some places... but Moyes would and probably will? Hence his liking for a small squad.

If our main transfer dealings are done and we're only in the market for cover I'd want us to look at a CM to cover Gibson and maybe a player that could cover the wings and attacking mid positions like Pienaar if they were available on loan etc. It was no coincidence that when Gibson came off Villa came back into the match so I'd want to make sure we have a player that could plug the gap he would leave if he got injured. An midfielder who could cover the wings effectively wouldn't hurt since I think we're a bit thin on the ground in those positions even after getting Mirallas and Naismith in so a player that could step in if they're injured would be welcome. Apart from those I think we're OK for cover in other positions and for the most part we seem to do better in injury crises anyway.
