2017/18 Ross Barkley

I dont know why some people are still talking about Ross's age, he's not "young lad" anymore. He's a fully grown man who's only a few mounths away from being 24 years old for God's sake! Can we stop these excuses as though he's a 16 year old kid who's only just starting to play senior football so is a bit naive.

He's either incredibly stupid and an extremely immature idiot or he's a selfish backstabbing little rat who's gone out of his way to do the club over. Personally I'm more inclined to believe it's the former as I don't see Ross as even close to intelligent or vindictive enough to concoct such a plan.

At this stage im more board by the whole saga then angry or upset. Imo the club should explain to Ross in the next few days that he either signs a new deal or he's told to completely stay away from the club. I don't care what Spurs or anyone else offer us in Jan, we should turn it down on principle.

Love you Ross, thanks for the money for betting on you to stay
Did the same. Didn't expect it to pan out like this though!

As for Ross, let him rot is my opinion. Tell him not to bother coming in and do what we have to do to look after his rehabilitation from his injury but not from Finch Farm, and let him have gardening leave until the start of next season.

Spiteful? Yes, but he's getting his wage and he might be convinced to head off in January for some nominal fee and end this sorry saga.

(Unless he comes out saying he loves Everton and just couldn't leave when it came to the crunch, then all's forgiven!)

I think Everton have no obligation to this dimwit and his agent any more
Gardening leave, no access to club facilities or staff
Bye Ross, hope that professional career and wages and signing on fee goes well when you wont be allowed to train with a team for 12 months
Just noticed you said the same thing more or less... I concur!

Maybe he had decided to go to Chelsea after lack of spurs interested but then got cold feet and decided to hold out for spurs. Maybe spurs found out he was at Chelsea and told his agent to hold out until January when they can get him cheap ? Maybe it was an elaborate attempt to get spurs to make a move ? Who knows.

Either way he's ultimately allowed to choose who he works for, it just sucks that we lose out on good money but morally he's not really done anything wrong.
i agree, we knew he wasn't going to sign a new deal with us, so we had two options. sell to Spurs (who Ross seems to have his heart set on), or hope that another club comes in with a bigger offer.

we gambled on the latter, it happened, but then Ross said no (which he is allowed to do, it's his career/life)

so now we've missed out on Spurs' offer and will either sell him for less in Jan, or lose for free next year. All the while paying his wages.

Should have just taken Spurs' money and been done with it all imo.

Agree with this, no access to facilities other than obligated, medical perhaps for rehab, but no training, no kit, not even a shower.

Withdraw contract offer immediately, don't sell in January, no access to football until his contract runs out, absolutely no chance of a place at the world cup.

Above all else, don't let this situation happen again, very amateurish.

Precisely.....
