Ross Barkley

There's hard anyone outside of Everton's support who knows anything about Barkley's background and they'd be surprised to be told he was of mixed race probably.

Anyway, it's not my point or issue with this. My point has been that McKenzie is scum and shouldn't be reacted to because he gets a buzz off it and Joe Anderson should have called him out exclusively on the usual lazy offensive Liverpool stereotypes. Instead he's just underscored all the talk of seperate races..whatever they are, because I dont feel part of any 'city race'.

Is that despite the fact most of the newspapers ran stories about he he could have chosen Nigeria back around the time he was first given a official cap for England mate?

I'm guessing your white mate, because if you where black or mixed race and someone said you looked Luke a gorilla I think you'd take it a bit more personally.

Maybe also the person who printed those stories about Hillsborough and stood by them for a long time, May, just may have thought twice about checking just to make sure?

He'll the first paragraph on Barkley on Wikipedia directly references his eligibility to have played for Nigeria due to his Nigerian grandfather. Or do you think a simple 30 second check of wiki is too much to expect from a journalist.

His implication is that Ross is stupid and has the look of somebody who is lost and confused, when you write an article for a paper or magazine etc, your job as a writer is to get the readers attention and paint an image in their mind, so back to the insult, Makenzie now has to think of something that also looks stupid basically and compared him to a gorilla. Race has nothing to do with it but his comments are inexcusable and he should be reprimanded for having strong opinions on somebody personally and a city as a whole.

Not having it mate.

At best McKenzie is guilty of crass ignorance and worst he knew what he was doing and wanted the reaction he's got.

He's no different than that other disgusting human being who writes for the Mail, Katie Hopkins.

I think McKenzie knew that Barkley was mixed race, and has set it up to plead ignorance afterwards. His comment about Barkley being the missing link between man and beast, a mixed race person being the link between man and gorilla, is undoubtedly racist. To publish it the day before the Hillsborough anniversary and include the scouser-slating content just screams chasing publicity. He doesn't care how he gets it.

This in a nutshell, and he himself will plead the victim card in this.

This, x1000. If he hadn't said it he would have received about a tenth of the attention he has got for using it.

I think it's more offensive of the echo to use the race card when there is real racism going on in the world myself!
As for Ross as a blue I love him but anyone who ever watched him speak after a game has probably thought how thick he looks but I doubt he's arsed he's minted young and has a great career ahead of him unlike Kelvin McKenzie who will be gone and forgotten soon enough.

The Echo is a disgraceful newspaper who slyly has a go at the city more than anybody else.
