In all of that you haven't answered the only thing that matters: do you think I defend McKenzie or what McKenzie said...which was your viewpoint above?

Here's some reminders of wha I actually posted:

Maybe out of all that you can tell me how I "defend McKenzie"?

As said, not a moot point for me this, far from it. I wont have it that I give succour in any way shape or form to that lot or him in particular.

Over to you mate.
Ok, initial comments duly noted.

It seems well bizarre to have a go at Anderson for reporting him.

Why would you not support his reporting of this?

And I see you've glossed over your digs at his weight.

He's playing the forum. Using anything to get a rise. You lot keep allowing it.

Whilst we (members in general, not just Moderstors) may have differing opinions to Dave and even have reservations about some of and the amount of his posting, your comment about 'you lot' is somewhat offensive.

Dave knows only too well, that he stretches things without blatantly breaking rules, and he also receives his fair share of warnings and threadbans.

Yes he should. MUCH better, because if I'm being called a race that isn't on.

Imagine being that insecure you take comments from the mayor of your city defending the city personally and making everything about you. Take a day off man he did the right thing here and although you may not be it certainly looks like you're on MacKenzies side by having a go at Anderson

Let's be honest
Lewandowski was tapped up big time.
Bayern do it every year with German based players.
2 Hoffenheim players heading to Bayern this summer.

Bayern don't have to tap anyone up. People want to go there and rightfully so as its a fantastic club who looks after its players.

It's complete and utter scum written by the vilest of vile human beings who thought it was acceptable to state that "scousers" robbed off the dead.

28 years ago that got printed, and now he's decided to state that we are all drug dealing gangsters if we are successful in life.

Joe Anderson is completely right, he's taken the man to task, along with others like collymore and lineker.

I'm more surprised that some people were unaware of Ross barkleys heritage, I assumed it was common knowledge.

I hope further action is taken against that scum bag. Defending him in any sort of manner is despicable

Thanks.

I'm not remotely looking for conflict on this - it's way too sensitive an issue to horse around with. Leaving McKenzie out of it I detest the trundling forward of people from Liverpool as a race. It's just hideous. Who thinks of themselves as part of 'the Liverpool race'? I expect racism implied or otherwise from that other source but not from an elected representative of the city.

Fair enough Anderson. I dont know why I mentioned that characteristic.

Ross Barkley's mixed race background is hardly a secret...its been in the National press on a number of occasions over the last four years. Theres really no excuse for a National newspaper editor to be unaware of it...let alone the newspaper's sub editors who have to red pen any contentious points prior to going to press. Its naïve to suggest that McKenzie wouldn't know...let alone his subs.

Bang on.

I agree with @ianefc, Barkley was pretty poor for calendar 2016. He started well the 2015/16 season and dropped off and he started this season poorly but has picked up. I think Koeman gave him some tough love, along the lines of 'if you want to play for this club and get a new contract you must improve by doing this, that and the other'. For me, the turning point was West Ham at home this season, ok he didn't have his best game for us, but he got a goal and I came away from a match for the first time thinking 'Barkley ran his socks off today' and he's hardly looked back since.

I think koeman was sceptical of him, but he has reacted in the way he'd hoped. If Barkley had sulked and gone into his shell then there'd be no doubt he'd be off in the summer without much fuss from the fans.

These last few months I think Barkley has been in the best form of his career. Ok he hasn't got as many goals as last year, but he's dominated games, dictated the play and been more creative than ever. I can only see him improving under koeman. Here's hoping he signs that contract
