Ross Barkley

So he's not allowed a night out with mates then after a particularly good day at work? Footballers are human beings mate, you can't expect to live a Spartan lifestyle. It would probably be the wise thing for many of them to do to prolong their careers and avoid all possible trouble but I certainly wouldn't want that imposed on me and neither would the vast majority of people.

Ross clearly wasn't causing trouble in that footage, he was talking calmy and the bloke seemingly punched him out of the blue. If there is more to the story, which I strongly believe there is, the club should pull Ross privately and jusy ask him to explain. I don't agree with him being deserving a bollocking off Koeman, he didn't do anything wrong and if it's over something in his personal life the club should just ask him to get it sorted as soon as possible.

If he wants to be a normal bloke having a normal time with his normal mates then he can get a normal job where he gets paid a normal wage. He doesn't have a normal job therefore some elements of his life can't be normal.

It’s about professionalism of a highly paid footballer. If this was 5 years ago or current youth player I would not batter an eye lid, sometime boys will be boys.
Moreover, on anecdotal note, my first paid job as pot washer in a restaurant, this very incident or similar regardless of fault would have had me sacked for bringing the brand and reputation of the restaurant into dispute.

They're not robots. They are humans - it doesn't matter what job or how much they are paid; they have downtime and are off the clock. What you are suggesting they do (which is basically live like nuns) is ludicrous.

As for your example of Ronaldo, here's a 2 second Google search.

Should he be disciplined as well?

And as for your anecdote, you had a terrible job then. Not sure how relevant.

Yes I do, didn't know he was in there, lads have been saying concert square. Even if he is, that's not your spot for a quiet drink regardless. It's studenty but also a bit druggy.

Look I know there's people who don't want one bad word said about anyone at Everton ever but even the most unhinged lads don't go around sparking people out for nothing. They're not going to learn, so Ross should.

they deffo do tho, particularly famous people

Are you one of these "Footballers have a responsibility to be role models" people? Good grief. It's a ridiculous argument, are you saying well-paid people should live in a bubble and not enjoy the same freedoms as everyone else?

No I'm not saying that but Ross can be a bit smarter about it. Getting yourself sparked out in Sants Chupitos is stupid. He's in the wrong place pure and simple. Plenty of places in Liverpool where footballers can unwind without being bothered. SC isn't one of them.

It does look like he taps the lad on the chin as if to say "chin up" or something, doesn't it? So maybe he was provoking him, none of us know really. At the end of the day, these things happen every now and then. I can't sit here and say when I was his age and on 70K a week or whatever I wouldn't be out doing similar things and trying it on with any half decent looking female around.

Remember, his experience is completely different to all of ours, I can't even being to imagine his lifestyle or what it's like to be a multi-millionaire footballer who people adore everywhere he goes. So basically, I'm not going to lambast him for going out or for somebody trying to knock him out.

At the end of the day, I only really care what he does when he's playing in blue and tbh he was fantastic again yesterday. Think some on here might wanna give him the benefit of the doubt a bit more but that's just my thoughts.
